Haul mulch, gravel, dirt and sod with a 16-foot trailer

How much material fits

Payload is approximately 5,000 lbs of cargo. As a rule of thumb, a cubic yard of dry mulch weighs a few hundred pounds, a yard of topsoil runs roughly a ton, and a yard of gravel or crushed stone is more. So the trailer carries several yards of mulch, a couple of yards of dirt, or about one to one and a half yards of gravel without stressing the axles. Ask the yard for the weight of your load; they know it, and we would rather you make two safe trips than one overloaded one.

Loose loads on an open deck

• The deck is wood with a rear gate, not a dump bed. Loose material unloads by shovel or by rake, so a tarp under the load makes cleanup faster.
• Pallets of sod and stone load with a forklift at the supplier and ride level on the 16-foot deck.
• Bring a tarp and bungee netting for anything that can blow off on the interstate.

Where Central Arkansas renters load up

Landscape suppliers and rock yards cluster along I-30 toward Bryant and Benton, Highway 365 toward Maumelle, and the industrial corridors of North Little Rock. Pick up the trailer in West Little Rock on your way, or have it delivered to the house and tow from there. From $75 a day; the deposit is $125 and refundable.
